Call for Papers for Int'l Quran Competition for Muslim Students

An official in charge of the Research Section of the fifth International Quran Competition for Muslim Students has invited scholars and researchers to take part in the Quranic event.

Mehdi Esmaeili called on Quranic researchers to send their papers and theses to the secretariat of the competition.
According to Esmaeili, the research section of the contest will include the following themes: 
A) Methodology of Interdisciplinary Quranic Studies
1. Definition of interdisciplinary Quranic studies and its distinction from comparative studies, scientific interpretation, and the like
2. Typology of interdisciplinary Quranic studies
3. Research methodology in interdisciplinary Quranic studies
4. Holy Quran and its logical relation with sciences
5. Scope and range of using Quranic sciences and teachings in various sciences
6. Role of Holy Quran in the development of humanities
7.  Basics of sciences in the Holy Quran
8. Need for the pathology of interdisciplinary Quranic studies
9. Tafsir Bi 'Al-Rai (interpretation based on one's own opinion) and interdisciplinary Quranic studies

B) Islamic Unity
1. Concept, fundamentals and necessity of Islamic unity
2. Islamic unity; opportunities and challenges
3. Effective approaches and factors for enhancing Islamic unity
4. Seerah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Infallible Imams (AS) in terms of promoting and enhancing Islamic unity
5. Role of elites and Muslim thinkers in promoting and enhancing Islamic unity
6. Status of Islamic countries in unity among Muslims and Islamic sects
7. Internal and external obstacles in the way of strengthening Islamic unity
8. Role of political, commercial, economic, … relations in the enhancement of unity among Muslim societies
Here are some other requirements for submitting papers or theses to the competition's secretariat.
The papers or theses should
1. Be problem-based
2. Be scientific-research based
3. Make use of reliable scientific sources
4. Be up-to-date
5. Accurately analyze and investigate issues
6. Come to appropriate and acceptable conclusions

B)  Format Requirements

1. The author's (authors') name, family name, scientific status, education degree, specialty, etc, along with mail and email address and phone number should be mentioned in the title page.
2. Papers should be in Persian, Arabic or English.
3. The order of the papers should be organized as follows: title, abstract, key words, introduction, statement of the problem, main subject, conclusion, recommendations, and bibliography.
4. Papers should contain an abstract- maximum 300 words- followed by three to five key words.
5. The abstract should include objectives of the research, research methodology, main findings, and conclusion.
6. Necessary information should be given as footnotes.  
7. APA citation format should be used for citing references in the text.
8. At the end of the paper, an alphabetical list of the references (Persian, Arabic and English) should be included in APA style.
9. Maximum length of papers is 25 A4 pages in Times New Roman, font Size 12.
10. Authors should refer to the website of the conference to submit the abstract and then the full paper.
11. The paper's electronic version should be submitted in MS Word and PDF formats.

Important Notes:

1. Selected works will be published at the discretion of the Iranian Academics' Quranic Activities Organization.
2. Only papers that have not been previously published will be considered.
3. Translated works will not be considered.
4. Submitted works will not be returned.

Evaluation of Submitted Papers and Theses
The received works will be reviewed by the scientific committee of the conference and selected works will be awarded. The papers or theses will be evaluated at three levels: scientific-specialized, scientific-propagational, and scientific-research.
The general criteria for assessing the works are as follows:
1. Necessity and significance of the subject
2. Novelty of the issues discussed
3. Clarity and fluency
4. Proper length of the paper
5. Coherence and cohesion
6. The title's relevance to the content
7. Proper introduction of the theme
8. Presenting the methodology in specific and scientific way
9. Proper statement of the problem and analysis and investigation of the theme
10. Meeting the required standards related to citation of references

Timetable for Submitting Works:

Deadline for Submitting Papers: November 21, 2014
Results of the final evaluation will be announced on December 21, 2014
