Closing Ceremony of Mecca Int’l Quran Competition Slated for Wednesday

IQNA – The 45th King Abdulaziz International Quran Competition will come to a close in a ceremony scheduled to be held in Mecca on Wednesday.

Winners of the competition in different categories will be named and awarded at the function.

Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, the deputy governor of the Mecca Region, will officiate the event.

The competition’s final round concluded on Thursday at the Grand Mosque in Mecca, following six consecutive days of competitions in mourning and afternoon sessions.

This year’s edition brought together 179 contestants from 128 countries competing across five categories for a total prize pool of 4 million Saudi riyals.

Their performances were evaluated by a panel of judges comprising Quran experts from different countries.

Iran is represented by two contestants: Mehdi Barandeh, competing in the category of memorizing the entire Quran, and Seyed Hossein Moqaddam Sadat, participating in the 15 Juzes memorization category.

The King Abdulaziz International Competition is considered one of the most prestigious global Quranic events, attracting top reciters and memorizers from across the Muslim world and beyond.

Organizers say the event aims to promote the values of moderation and tolerance while strengthening Muslims’ connection to the Holy Quran.
