Sheikh Meysam al-Aboudi told IQNA that university students who memorize the Quran and enhance their skills in recitation and Tajweed can see the result of their efforts in the Quranic field by taking part in the international competition.
Director of Anwar al-Wilaya Quranic Institute suggested a category of thematic interpretation of the Quran be added to the contest to further enrich the Quranic event.
He noted that there are many young Muslims who are interested in the field of Quran interpretation and, therefore, the inclusion of this category in the competition will attract many more students.
Al-Aboudi also urged that the competition should have a section for female students as well.
He referred to the important role of women in the development of the Quranic culture and said participation of women in Quranic activities like the Quran competition for Muslim students will help to raise a Quranic generation.
Inclusion of a section for women in the contest will also help to dispel anti-Iran propaganda and let the world know that the Islamic Republic attaches importance to the participation of women in different cultural and social arenas, he stated.
Elsewhere in his remarks, al-Aboudi referred to the International Holy Quran Competition for Muslim Students as a venue for young Muslims to gather together and share their Quranic experiences.
The fifth edition of the International Holy Quran Competition for Muslims Students is scheduled to be held in Iran in January 2015 by the Iranian Academics' Quranic Activities Organization.
The Iranian cities of Isfahan, Tehran, Mashhad and Tabriz hosted the previous four editions of the international competition.
