--Senegal-based Al-Mozdahir International institute is to hold a forum on Ashura event on January 2, 2008.
The officials of the institute in a talk to Sudonline Website said that the forum is aimed at shedding light on the significant role of the Ahl-ol-Beit (the infallible progeny of the holy prophet) in preserving the true teachings of the heavenly religion of Islam and passing them down to generations of Muslims.

Sharif Mohammad Ali, head of the Al-Mozdahir International institute said, “At the tragic event of Ashura almost all male family members of the Ahl-ol-Beit of the holy prophet of Islam were martyred; however, the spilled blood of the most beloved progeny of the holy prophet saved the fledging tree of Islam.”

Ibrahim Amadou Sakho, director of the institute said that all the memebrs of Al-Mozdahir institute have committed themselves to make efforts in reviving and promoting the culture of Ashura.

"Ashura has a rich culture and if the officials of the country fully understand the message of Ashura, the entire system of Senegal will drastically change in the positive sense."

Ashura is well-known because of mourning for the martyrdom of Hossein ibn Ali the grandson of Mohammad, along with 72 members of his family and close friends at the Battle of Karbala in the year 61 AH (AD 680). Yazid I was in power at the time and wanted the Bay'ah (allegiance) of Hossein ibn Ali (AS). Yazid was openly going against the teachings of Islam in public and changing the sunnah of Prophet Mohammad.[6] [7] [8]
