The ministry announced the launch of the comprehensive training program aimed at developing the scientific and cognitive competencies of prayer leaders through a three-year training plan.

Approximately 48,000 mosque imams will benefit from this program annually, Arabi21 reported.

Awqaf Minister Ahmed Toufi, in response to a question from a member of parliament, said that the program is being carried out under the supervision of the Supreme Council of Ulema and includes academic training for congregational prayer leaders, strengthening their abilities in the fields of communication and management, and specialized training.

The attendance rate of mosques’ imams in the sessions held in 2025 reached approximately 94.5% of those invited, indicating the success of this plan and the widespread participation in these sessions, he said.

The ministry also announced the start of registration for the 22nd course of the Muhammad VI Imams Training Institute for 2026. The course includes the participation of 150 imams, and the candidates are required to have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, be under 45 years of age, and have memorized the entire Quran.

The duration of training at this institution is 12 months, during which students receive a monthly salary of 2,000 dirhams, and graduates are expected to be employed in mosques with work contracts.
