TEHRAN (IQNA) - A Quranic forum titled “Quran Recitation in the Presence of Jurists and Tajweed Experts” was held on November 29 in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq.

According to the website of the Astan of Imam Ali (AS) holy shrine in Najaf, the program was organized by the Quranic Dissemination Section of the Dar-ol-Quran Center affiliated to the holy shrine.

Chaired by Sheikh Ahmad Jasim Al-Najafi, Quran reciter and Muezzin of the holy shrine, the forum was attended by Rafi’ Al-‘Ameri, Iraqi Quran master and Ahmad Al-Rahimi, Quran researcher of the country.

A number of representatives from Quranic centers and institutes in the holy city of Najaf and a delegation from Al-Thiql Al-Akbar Quranic institute in Baghdad also attended the program.

Mohammad Fakhruddin, in charge of the forum and head of the Quranic section, said that the program was a part of Quranic activities of the section held with the aim of promoting a scientific approach in disseminating Quranic culture.

The close relationship between the fields of jurisprudence and Tajweed was investigated at the forum.

Addressing the program, Al-‘Ameri said that Shia scholars were deeply involved in Quranic sciences and some of them wrote their thesis on Tajweed.

Tajweed is the knowledge and application of the rules governing pronunciation during recitation of the Qur'an so the reading of the Qur'an is as the Holy Prophet (PBUH), recited.
