Hojat-ol-Islam Shahabeddin Hosseini, director of the province’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Department told IQNA that holding the Quranic sessions began earlier this month during the Ten-Day Dawn Celebrations, which mark the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory.
He said more sessions will be held in mosques, universities, student dormitories and elsewhere in the province until the end of the National Quran Competition on March 2.
Hosseini went on to say that prominent Iranian Quran reciters take part in the programs and that a number of Egyptian Qaris have also been invited to visit Iran and recite the Quran in the sessions.
The 37th edition of the National Quran Competition will be held in Tabriz, capital of East Azarbaijan province, from February 24 to March 2.
