According to yemeneconomist.com, the closing ceremony of the Quranic event was held with the participation of Amir Asem ibn Nayef, representative of the King of Jordan at Hussein ibn Talal Mosque of Amman, the capital city.
This edition of the competition for men was organized by the country’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs starting from the 21st of the holy month of Ramadan (July 8).
Representatives of 27 countries competed in memorization of the entire Quran along with interpretation, memorization of 20 Juzes (parts) along with recitation and memorization of 10 Juzes along with recitation.
Muhammad Reza Ahmadi, memorizer of the entire Quran, represented Iran in this edition of the Quranic event.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Hayel Abdul Hafeez Davoud, Jordanian Minister of Awqaf, said that the Holy Quran is the guide for the Islamic Ummah and that the objective of the competition was to help raise a generation of Quran memorizers who contemplate the Quran's meanings and act upon its teachings.
Qaris from Jordan, Indonesia and Algeria recited some verses of the Holy Quran in the ceremony.
In the first category of the contest, Omar Abdul Karim Khalil Al-Za’bi from Jordan, Sahir Asmar from Palestine, Ali Muhammad Salih Sa’eed from Algeria, Abdul Aziz Al-Alati from Kuwait and Ahmad Ta’eema from Egypt won the first to the fifth ranks, respectively.
The five winners in the second category, memorization of 20 Juzes along with Tilawah (Quran reading), were Abdul Rahim Syamsuri Jono from Indonesia, Naser Zeyb from Jordan, Muhammad Abdul Razzaq from Bangladesh, Ahmad ibn Ibad from Tunisia and Javad Alishah from Britain.
In the third category, memorization of 10 Juzes along with Tilawah, Rashid Al-Naqbi from the UAE, Muhammad Abdul Latif from Malaysia, Omar Abu Musa from Jordan, Abdul Aziz Abdullah from Qatar and Taqir Yusubov from Russia were the five top winners.
