Georgia’s Muslims Receive Quran Translation Well
Razav Mickldzi told IQNA that 1000 copies of his translation have so far been sold.
He said what motivated him to translate the Holy Book was a lack of accurate renderings of the Quran in Georgian.
There have been previous translations done by two Orientalists but they are not accurate and contain many errors, he stated.
One of the two translations is from French and the other from Arabic, and both contain errors, Mickldzi noted.
He underlined that, a Muslim Quran researcher whose mother language is Georgian can no doubt translate the Quran into the language much better than Orientalists.
He also said that he now plans to translate an interpretation of the Holy Quran into Georgian to meet the needs of the country’s Muslims.
According to Mickldzi, Muslims make up between 15 and 20 percent of Georgia’s population.
Elsewhere, he referred to his Quranic activities in Georgia, saying he has a Quranic center in the Caucasian country that has trained 5 memorizers of the entire Quran so far.
Mickldzi was in Iran to attend the 23rd edition of Tehran International Holy Quran Exhibition.
It was held in the Iranian capital during the holy month of Ramadan.
