Indonesia to Host Asean Quran Competition

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 11th ASEAN-Pacific Al Quran and Hadith reciters and memorizers competition will be held in Indonesia next week.


It will be organized with Indonesian President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) support in cooperation with Sultan bin Abdul Aziz charity institute.

The participants will compete in the categories of memorization of the Quran and memorization of Hadiths.

Quran memorizers from Asean and Pacific Ocean countries will take part in the contest, slated for March 11-15.

Winners will receive cash prizes and Hajj pilgrimage packages.

ASEAN is a political and economic organization of ten countries located in Southeast Asia. It was formed on August 8, 1967 by Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Since then, membership has expanded to include Brunei, Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
