TEHRAN (IQNA) – Palestine’s ambassador to Iran underlined the need for an end to Israeli occupation and said Palestine must return to its people.

Speaking at a forum titled “Aspects of the Deal of Century”, Salah al-Zawawi said all Palestinians are opposed to the US-Israeli plot.

The forum was held at the International Quran News Agency’s (IQNA) main office in Tehran on Monday.

Also attending the program was Hossein Sheikholeslam, an international advisor to the Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.

Zawawi added that the so-called “deal of the century” is part of the “greater Israel” ploy and there no Palestinian group supporting it.

Asked why the first part of the plan was an economic proposal, he said the Americans thought that they could make the Palestinians, who are suffering economically, abandon their cause by offering them money and a few insignificant concessions.

He further dismissed the idea of a political solution for the issue of occupation and said talking about peace and dialogue to make Israel end occupation is a delusion.

Palestine in its entirety must return to the Palestinians and there is no other way to achieve this but an end to Israel, he said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Zawawi praised Iran for remaining faithful to the cause of Palestine and said that since the victory of the Islamic Revolution led by Imam Khomeini (RA), Iranians have been at the forefront of countering Israeli plots.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is the only country in the region standing against Israel, he went on to say.

The deal of century ploy has been fronted by US President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.

It has already been rejected by the Palestinians, who say the White House's policies have been blatantly biased in favor of Israel.

Palestinians have cut off all contacts with the Trump administration since the president broke with decades of bipartisan policy to recognize al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of Israel in December 2017.
