TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Houthi Ansarullah official described the recent major offensive launched by Yemeni forces against Saudi Arabia as the biggest land operation during the Yemeni war.

Yemeni forces killed some 200 Saudi-backed mercenaries and took 2,000 others prisoner in the offensive in Najran province.

It marked one of Yemen’s most successful military operations repelling the Saudi-led aggression against the country.

It also came after a major drone attack on the heart of Saudi Arabia’s oil industry, which allegedly shut down more than half of the kingdom’s crude production.

Speaking to IQNA, Qazi Abdul Wahhab al-Mahbashi, head of Ansarullah movement’s Legal Office, said just as the Aramco attack was very important as a drone operation, the ‘Nasr Min Allah’ offensive had significant impacts as a land operation.

He said it considerably enhanced the resistance movement’s position, likening the importance of the operation to Hezbollah resistance movement’s victory over Israel in the 33-Day War.

Asked whether the highly successful drone and land operations would make the Saudi-led coalition stop the aggression, Mahbashi said it is very likely unless the aggressors want to continue their adventurism until it leads to their suicide.

He noted that the Saudis, especially Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, are too arrogant to admit defeat and end the conflict.

As for the reason why the Saudis blame Iran for the attacks, Mahbashi said it was because the recent operation was very big and had global impacts.

Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies launched the war on Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing the government of former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi back to power and crushing the Ansarullah movement.

Resistance by Yemeni forces has however pushed the Saudi war into a stalemate, with Yemeni forces increasingly using sophisticated weaponry in retaliatory attacks against the coalition.
