US Attacks on Iraqi Popular Forces Aimed at Supporting Takfiris: Lebanese Cleric

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The president of Lebanon’s Higher Shia Council condemned US attacks on Iraqi Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units) forces, describing the move as an attempt to support Takfiris.

Ayatollah Abdul-Amir Qabalan said the airstrikes by the US in Iraq and Syria violated the two Arab countries’ sovereignty, elnashra website reported.

He added that the attacks were in response to the achievements of the Axis of Resistance in defeating the Zionist-Takfiri terrorism in Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon and Gaza.

Ayatollah Qabalan also expressed condolences to the Iraqi government and nation and families of those martyred in the attacks.

On Sunday, US forces conducted drone strikes on a number of Kata'ib Hezbollah bases in Iraq's western Anbar province, killing at least 25 individuals and leaving another 51 injured.

Kata'ib Hezbollah is part of the Hashd al-Shaabi.
