According to Karbala Alan News Agency, the Quran Department of the Imam Hussein (AS) Holy Shrine, under the supervision of its General Secretariat, has launched its annual Arbaeen art exhibition.
The event is located near Imam Hassan al-Mujtaba township along the pilgrims’ path and is managed by the department’s Qalam Center, which specializes in Arabic calligraphy and traditional Islamic arts.
Wissam al-Delfi, head of the department’s media center, said preparations for the exhibition included assembling diverse Quranic artworks and pieces from various countries, collected through past exhibitions in Karbala’s Between the Two Shrines area.
“We have also included rare works, such as sculptures by Indonesian artists,” he noted.

He said the exhibition aims to highlight injustices faced by Imam Hussein (AS), the sayings of the Prophet’s Household (AS), and Quranic verses that reference the events of Karbala.
Al-Delfi described it as both a cultural and artistic experience. “It expresses the spirit of the Arbaeen pilgrimage, connecting authentic art with the message of Imam Hussein’s (AS) movement, and creating a space for awareness and interaction along the pilgrims’ journey,” he said.
The exhibition was previously held in Basra Province, in cooperation with the Quran Department’s branch in al-Qurna, where it ran for over four days before being moved last Thursday to its current location in Karbala.
It will remain open until after the Arbaeen pilgrimage.

Al-Delfi added that the display is part of the department’s annual programs for the Arbaeen route. Its purpose, he said, is to promote Quranic identity and present the message of Imam Hussein’s (AS) movement in an artistic style that blends letters and colors.
Each year, millions of pilgrims—many on foot—journey to the Iraqi city of Karbala to mark Arbaeen, the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), in the 7th-century Battle of Karbala.
