TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Iranian Cultural Center in Georgia has organized online programs on Qadr nights and martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali (AS).

According to the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the programs have been held in cooperation with the Iranian Embassy and representative of Al-Mustafa International University in the Caucasus country, the Georgian Muslims Office and Georgian preachers.

The programs include Quran recitation and interpretation, speeches, recitation of Ramadan supplications and mourning rituals on martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali (AS).

The online daily Ramadan programs of the center will continue until the end of the holy month with Quran recitation, interpretation and speeches by Hojat-ol-Islam Davoud Zare’.

Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar. It is a period of prayer, fasting, charity giving and self–accountability for Muslims around the world.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast (abstain from foods and drinks) from sunrise to sunset.

They also devote a considerable amount of time during this month to reading and contemplating the Quran.

Lailatul Qadr (The Night of Qadr or Night of Power) means the night of destiny, honor and dignity.

The exact date of Laylat al-Qadr is unknown. However, according to many traditions, it is in the month of Ramadan. Shias believe that it is whether the eve of 19th or 21st or 23rd of the month of Ramadan.
