Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei attended the event.
In a speech at the ceremony, Hojat-ol-Islam Aali talked about preserving one’s faith and said the best prayer for one’s self is praying for ending (one’s life) well.
He also referred to the repression and very difficult conditions that dominated the society after the event of Karbala and said Imam Sajjad (AS) in those conditions kept the messages of Ashura and Imam Hussein’s (AS) movement alive.
Hojat-ol-Islam Shahitat recited elegies at the ceremony.
Imam Sajjad (AS) was martyred by poisoning on the 25th day of Muharram in the year 95 Hijri in Medina and is buried at Baqi Cemetery near his uncle Hassan (AS).
