IQNA

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A junior Quran qari in Libya burst into tears while reciting verses from An-Najm Surah.

Attending a local Quran competition, Muhammad Fathi Sharafuddin recited verses 1 to 18 of An-Najm in Tarteel style.

When reciting verse 13, Muhammad started crying and paused for moments before continuing his recitation.

Here is the translation of verses 1-18:

By the star when it plunges, (1)

your companion is neither astray, neither errs, (2)

nor does he speak out of desire. (3)

Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, (4)

taught by One who is Stern in power. (5)

Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm (6)

while he was in the highest horizon; (7)

then he drew near, and became close (8)

he was but two bows' length or even nearer, (9)

so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). (10)

His heart did not lie of what he saw. (11)

What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! (12)

Indeed, he saw him in another descent (13)

at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending (14)

close to the Garden of Refuge. (15)

When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes (16)

his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray (17)

for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. (18)
