He had traveled to Iraq both as a member of the panel of arbiters for Iraqi national Quran competitions as well as to hold Quranic sessions and programs that were held on the occasion of the second martyrdom anniversary of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.

Speaking about the national contest, the top memorizer said the competition was held with the presence of Iraqi figures while TV channels also covered the event. The competition was held in four categories of memorization, recitation, interpretation, and eulogy and was warmly welcomed by people, he said.

Individuals from 16 provinces participated in the event which had good quality, he said, adding that he and an Egyptian qari were the only two foreign referees in the competition.

During his 10-day stay in Iraq, Haghgouyan also attended Quanic programs in a number of universities, mosques, and TV channels.
