TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Egyptian expert says the talent of late qari Abul Ainain Shuaisha was discovered by a Christian politician.

A seminar was held on the sidelines of the 53rd International Cairo Book Fair to commemorate two late qaris Abul Ainain Shuaisha (1922-2011) and Kamil Yusuf Al-Bahtimi (1922-1969).

A number of experts addressed the seminar including music artist Hossam Saqr, editor-in-chief of Minbar al-Islam Magazine Hassan Khalil.

Lauding Shuaisha as one the best qaris in Egypt’s history, Saqr said that the late master was also a prominent mubtahil. The styles of Shuaisha and Al-Bahtimi were close because they had been educated under the same school and master.

There are sounds that instruments can make but are difficult for the human voice, and vice versa, however, Shuaisha managed to do this with ease, added the expert.

Khalil described Shuaisha and Al-Bahtimi as flowers whose scent fills the air, noting that each of the late qaris had a style of his own, not imitating from others.

Al-Bahtimi discovered his talent in childhood and after spotting the capacity of his voice, went to his village’s mosque and started recitation there and gradually achieved fame, Khalil added.

He also pointed to memoirs of Shuaisha who had once said that Fakhri 'Abd al-Nur who was a prominent Christian politician discovered his talent for recitation. He had invited the qari to stay for three days in the home so that children can listen to Quran recitation, Khalil said.
