TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi in separate messages congratulated leaders of Muslims countries on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.

Iranian President Ibrahim Raeisi

In his messages, the president described Ramadan as an opportunity for Muslims and pious people to join the ranks of Mutaqeen (the God-fearing, the true believers) by fasting, staying away from sins, Tazkiyah (purification of the soul) and Tahzeeb (refining the self).

He expressed hope that with the blessing of this month of mercy and compassion, and with the efforts of leaders and thinkers of Muslim countries and increasing empathy and solidarity among Muslim nations, effective steps will be taken to enhance unity in the Islamic Ummah, particularly against the currents that foment discord, such as Takfiri groups.

Raeisi also hoped for an end to oppression and injustice and the establishment of peace and security all over the world, especially in Palestine.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, charity and community.
