In a statement released on Monday Hamas reminded the world of the sufferings of more than 7 million Palestinian refugees who have been forced out of their homes as a result of occupation, aa.com website reported.

The statement was released on the occasion of the World Refugee Day, which is marked annually on June 20.

It said the occupiers try to ignore the efforts of the refugees to defend their identity and national rights, including the right to return to their homeland.

Hamas reiterated its commitment to the Palestinian refugees’ right to return to the homes and areas they were displaced from by the Israeli occupation as confirmed by international charters and United Nations Security Council resolutions.

This right cannot be revoked, compromised, or ignored, the resistance movement underlined.

According to a report by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), some 6.3 million Palestinians have been forced out of their homes since the Nakba Day in 1948.
