TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Noor (light) Exegesis of the Holy Quran covers all Surahs (chapters) of the Holy Book. Its aim is to offer lessons from the Quran’s messages.

Hojat-ol-Islam Mohsen Qara'ati

In the past, Quran scholars wrote interpretations that were aimed at experts and scholars. But some Quran interpreters in the contemporary era have sought to write works that would serve all of those who want to have access to easy-to-understand interpretations.

One of those works is the Noor Exegesis by Hojat-ol-Islam Mohsen Qara’ati.

Qara’ati was born in 1945 in Kashan, central Iran. He entered the Kashan Seminary School at the age of 14 and then continued his seminary studies in the holy cities of Qom and Najaf.

He is known in Iran for his TV program “Lessons from the Quran” that have been aired on the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) since 1980.

He is also a prolific author, having written more than 60 books on different subjects. His works include “Interpretation of Verses of Life”, “300 Points in Islamic Management”, “Quran Interpretation for Youths”, and “1001 Points from the Holy Quran”.

Qara’ati wrote the Noor Exegesis of the Quran with the cooperation of a number scholars and researchers such as Seyed Javad Beheshti, Mahmoud Motevasel, Hassan Dehshiri and Rahmatollah Jafari.

They would extract points from the Quran referring to a number of Quran interpretations, including Fi Zilal Al-Quran by Seyed Qutb, Al-Kabir Interpretation by Imam Fakhr Razi, Majma al-Bayan, Nur al-Thaqalayn, Al-Mizan, and Kashshaf.

Then Hojat-ol-Islam Qara’ati would use them and his own research to write in an easy-to-understand language practical messages from the Quran.

Among the advantages of the Noor Exegesis is that it avoids technical, literary, theological and philosophical terms that could make it difficult for ordinary people to read.

Another important thing is that he has used both Shia and Sunni Quran interpretations to write the exegesis.

The Noor Exegesis has been written in a simple and easy-to-understand language for all readers.

It covers all verses of the Quran and offers short and practical messages from the Quran that are helpful in life and can be easily translated to all languages.
