TEHRAN (IQNA) – According to Nahj al-Balagha, Jihad is one of the doors of paradise, a sociologist and religious researcher said.

Emad Afroogh

In a series of sessions, Emad Afroogh tries to introduce the thoughts of Imam Ali (AS). In the 17th session, he talks about the importance and virtues of Jihad. Here is a summary of his remarks:

A sermon I have chosen for today is about the significance and virtues of Jihad. Imam Ali (AS) says: “Indeed, surely Jihad is one of the doors of Paradise, which Allah has opened for His chief friends. It is the dress of piety and the protective armor of Allah and His trustworthy shield. Whoever abandons it Allah covers him with the dress of disgrace and the clothes of distress. He is kicked with contempt and scorn, and his heart is veiled with screens (of neglect). Truth is taken away from him because of missing jihad. He has to suffer ignominy and justice is denied to him.”

The Commander of the Faithful (AS) then says: “By Allah, no people have been attacked in the hearts of their houses but they suffered disgrace; but you put it off to others and forsook it till destruction befell you and your cities were occupied.”

This sermon was mentioned in continuation of the discussion about Imam Ali’s (AS) statements on the attack by those from the Levant on the borders of the Muslim lands and their plundering of towns and villages.
