Moukebs serve pilgrims in Karbala

Moukebs are resting places with special facilities and services for pilgrims.

According to Hashem al-Mousawi, an official with the office of the governor of Karbala, the Moukebs have been set up on three roads leading to Karbala from Najaf, Baghdad and Babil.

He said the number of Moukebs and pilgrims has risen compared to the previous year.

The official added that there is coordination among local and nation health, services and security bodies to ensure the pilgrims will not face any problems during their visit to the city.

A special health and medical plan has also been launched in cooperation with the Iraqi health ministry to provide services to the pilgrims, he went on to say.

The 15th day of the lunar Hijri month of Sha’aban, which falls on Wednesday, March 8, this year, marks the birthday of Imam Zaman (may God hasten his glad advent).

Every year, millions of Shia Muslims around the world hold festivities to honor the event.

In Iran, people decorate and light up streets across the country to celebrate the occasion.

According to Islamic teachings, Imam Zaman (AS) is the prophesied redeemer, who will revive peace, administer justice and rid the world of evil.
