TEHRAN (IQNA) – A senior Iraqi scholar said Intizar (awaiting the Savior) is not just a belief but it should be manifested in Muslims’ deeds.

Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Karbasi

Speaking to IQNA on the occasion of Nimeh Shaaban, the 15th day of the lunar Hijri month of Shaaban, which marks the birthday of Imam Zaman (may God hasten his glad advent), Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Karbasi said believers should get ready for the reappearance of the Savior practically by acting upon their responsibilities.

The director of the Najaf Center for Writing, Documenting and Publishing added that those awaiting the Savior must be ready to support and defend Imam Zaman (AS) after his reappearance.

He said on the path of Intizar, one should make efforts and not refrain from sacrificing his wealth and his life.

The belief in Intizar should be rooted in our heart and our soul and we should be eager to meet the Savior.

He further referred to verse 5 of Surah Al-Qasas of the Holy Quran, “And We desired to show favour unto those who were oppressed in the earth, and to make them examples and to make them the inheritors,” and said the rule of Imam Zaman (AS) after reappearance will be the rule of the oppressed which will spread all over the world.

He said divine prophets have all made efforts to support the realization of this divine pledge in the face of attempts by oppressors to impede it.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Hojat-ol-Islam Karbasi referred to the celebration of Nimeh Shaaban and other occasions attributed to Imam Zaman (AS), and said it is way of boosting the idea that the oppressed are the inheritors of the earth.

He added that honoring such occasions as Nimeh Shaaban, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Ghadir also help to promote Islamic concepts and teachings.

Every year, millions of Shia Muslims around the world hold festivities to honor Nimeh Shaaban.

This year, the auspicious occasion fell on Wednesday, March 8.

According to Islamic teachings, Imam Zaman (AS) is the prophesied redeemer, who will revive peace, administer justice and rid the world of evil.
