God says in Verse 164 of Surah Al-Ana’am:
“(Muhammad), tell them, ‘Should I take a lord besides God when He is the Lord of all things?’ All one's evil deeds are against one's own soul. No one will be considered responsible for another's sins. You will all be returned to your Lord who will tell you what is right and wrong in disputed matters among you.”
This is a question addressed to those who rejected the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) invitation to worship God.
How do these people expect the Prophet (PBUH) to abandon the Creator of the whole world and instead worship others who are finite?
It is a rhetorical question that urges the unbelievers and idolaters to change their path and worship God and if they fail to do so, they alone will have to carry the burden of their sin.
In the system of creation, there is precision and justice in judgments and assessment and no one will be awarded or punished for what others have done.
Therefore, everyone shall reap what he or she has sown.

The verse continues to underline that everyone is a traveler who is moving toward God and when they reach Him, He will let them know that all their disputes and differences about religion have been pointless.
They have abandoned the essence of the religion, which is worshipping God, acting upon His commandments, being kind to people, acting justly and beneficently, and loving knowledge, goodness and beauty, and instead engaged in disputes and hostilities that only benefit Satan.
