IQNA – Embracing moral and religious values isn't just about personal fulfillment; it extends to our social interactions, fostering better relationships with others.

The choices we make in our behavior and actions, such as honesty and integrity, directly influence the quality of our lives and the society we live in.

The Holy Quran consistently emphasizes the significance of truthfulness as a fundamental principle for human greatness and excellence. According to its teachings, individuals who fulfill their responsibilities with honesty and integrity will reap the benefits of their actions, finding salvation and liberation.

“Allah will say, ‘This day truthfulness shall benefit the truthful. For them there will be gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them forever. Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. That is the great success.’” (Surah Al-Ma'idah, verse 119)

In the realm of social dynamics, mutual trust and public confidence emerge as crucial social capital. Lies, betrayal, and fraud are identified as the factors that erode this capital. Islamic traditions regard truth and righteousness as the bedrock of religion and faith. Imam Ali (AS) succinctly stated, "Two things form the basis and criterion of religion: truth and faith."

Therefore, it is emphasized that individuals act with honesty and integrity across various situations, prioritizing these values over personal interests.

Neglecting moral and religious considerations poses a threat to a fulfilling life. The Holy Quran holds individuals accountable for their actions, stressing the importance of obeying God's commands: “Every soul is hostage to what it has earned.” (Surah Al-Muddathir, verse 38)

Disregarding divine commands is equated with moving towards disbelief and oppression, as highlighted in various verses of Surah Al-Ma'idah:

“Those who do not judge by what Allah has sent down—it is they who are the faithless.” (verse 44)

“Those who do not judge by what Allah has sent down—it is they who are the wrongdoers.” (verse 45)

“Those who do not judge by what Allah has sent down—it is they who are the transgressors.” (verse 47)

Despite these teachings, some individuals today trivialize divine commands, offering excuses to rationalize their neglect. However, the path to a pure life – Hayat Tayyaba – lies in earnestly following religious and moral principles. To attain goodness in this world and the afterlife, one must sincerely adhere to divine guidance and avoid indifference to it.
