The ministry said half of these Quranic circles are for men and the other half for women, Al-Ray daily reported.

They are organized in mosques and other venues under the supervision of the Quran and Quranic Sciences Department for men and the Dawah and Irshad Department for women.

The ministry said in a statement that the new Quranic circles are part of efforts aimed at promoting Quranic activities and raising a generation equipped with Quranic morals and one that attaches importance to the Quran and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

It added that such programs help to set the ground for learning the Quran and contemplating its teachings.

The ministry said some 1,200 people attend the Quranic circles, held every week from Sunday to Thursday.
