Seyed Mohammad Mojani, head of the cultural, educational committee of Arbaeen, told IQNA that qaris, Ibtihal reciters and Tawasheeh groups have until July 6 to sign up to become a member of the Quranic delegation.
After the end of the deadline, the Committee to Invite and Dispatch Qaris will assess the applications and select the members, he stated.
He noted that Quranic convoys have been dispatched to Iraq during the Arbaeen season for almost ten years.
They organize Quranic programs for pilgrims in Moukebs and on the routes, especially on the road between the holy cities of Karbala and Najaf, he added.
This year, too, the convoy will be sent to Iraq in to batches, each one scheduled to stay in the Arab country for six days, Mojani went on to say.
The Arbaeen mourning ceremony is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.
It marks the 40th day after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Imam Hussein (AS). This year’s Arbaeen is expected to fall on August 25, depending on the moonsighting.
Each year, a huge crowd of Shias flock to Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites.
