IQNA – Faced with delayed rainfall, Jordanians gathered in mosques across the country to perform Salat Al-Istisqa (Rain-Seeking Prayers), invoking divine mercy in accordance with a revered tradition of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The prayers drew large crowds in mosques nationwide on Sunday.

In Al-Hussein Town, a congregation led by Minister of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs, and Holy Sites, Mohammad Al-Khalayleh, along with Grand Mufti of Jordan Ahmad Al-Hasanat and many worshippers, participated in the prayer ceremony, Jordanian media outlets reported.

Al-Khalayleh, who led the prayers, delivered a sermon urging worshippers to approach God with sincerity and humility, seeking His mercy for the well-being of people, plants, and animals.

He emphasized the spiritual importance of avoiding sins, which, he noted, are often viewed as obstacles to divine blessings such as rainfall.

The Ministry of Awqaf had called on citizens earlier to attend the Salat Al-Istisqa, which were held across various regions of the country following the afternoon prayer.
