Conference in Qom to Discuss Measures for Enhancing Itakf Ceremonies

IQNA – The 9th conference on Itikaf (religious retreat) management will be held at the Jamkaran Mosque in Qom later this year, an official said.

Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Alireza Tekiyei, head of Iran’s Itikaf Headquarters, said it is aimed at integrating activities related to the Itikaf rituals and enhancing the organization of the religious ceremonies in the countries. 

He added that special panels and workshops are planned during the conference to discuss issues like Itikaf for school and university students, media and Itikaf, and formulating an Itikaf management document.

The conference will also be a venue for exchanging views on the role of prayer leaders in elevating the status of Itikaf, successful experiences related to Itikaf, and role of Itikaf in developing religious knowledge in society, he stated.

Hojat-ol-Islam Tekiyei also stressed the importance of the issue of resistance and said Itikaf can be very effective in boosting resistance and standing against cultural threats.

Itikaf is a tradition of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his family, and is regarded as a highly rewarding act of worship in Islam.
