Speaking to IQNA, Mehdi Nadi, head of the Quran Center of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad, emphasized that the enemy attacked sanctities with the aim of disrupting social cohesion, but this action not only failed, but also deepened the people’s connection with the Quran, and today is the time for maximum unity of the Quranic community and strengthening the role of mosques as active Quranic bases.
Nadi offered condolences to the Islamic community for the bitter incidents and acts of desecration and explained the roots of these actions, the role of the Quranic community in confronting them, and the importance of transforming mosques into active bases of the Holy Quran.
In the face of such tragedies, he said, the only sentence that can be uttered is “We are from God and we shall return to Him.”
This expression has been used in Islamic history for moments when the Islamic community has faced a great calamity, he noted.
“What happened is a continuation of the same open hostility towards the religious and Quranic identity of the Iranian nation; a hostility that this time manifested itself in a clumsy and reckless manner,” he stated.
Nadi added that enemies of the Iranian nation thought they could create a social divide by attacking sacred places and sanctities, but they struck at the very point that caused the religious zeal of the people to erupt.

If they had chosen other paths, they might have succeeded in bringing a small percentage of people to their path, but insulting the Quran and the mosque alienated even those minimal supporters, he said.
He emphasized that no sane person would take such an action as desecrating sanctities.
Regarding the duty of the Quranic community in such circumstances, Nadi said, “The essence of our action must be ‘unity’. Unity within the Quranic community and unity with the people and officials. Today is not the time to deal with minor differences, personal tastes, or unnecessary boundaries.”
The Quranic community must become a united hand and form a coherent cultural and Quranic front alongside the people and in line with the Leaders guidelines, he emphasized.
Rejecting any retreat from Quranic activities in mosques, he emphasized, “Some may think that, to prevent harm, Quran sessions should be moved to closed or home spaces, but this view is completely wrong.
“I believe that after these events, mosques should be more powerful bases for the Quran than before. Quran recitation, education, Quranic circles for getting to know the Holy Book, translation, interpretation, and promoting Quranic sciences should be developed in the mosque. They burned a few copies of the Quran, but they did not burn the foundation of our faith.”
Referring to the recent rallies across the country in condemnation of the riots, the Quranic activist said, “The scenes we saw in these days were very meaningful. Among different classes and age groups, many people were holding the Quran; the Quran had become the flag itself.”
He said it shows that the name and status of the Quran in society has been elevated more than before. “This is a historic opportunity that should be used to deepen Quranic activities in mosques.”
