Jame Mosque of Barsian; A Relic of Seljuks

IQNA – The Jame Mosque of Barsian, located in Barsian, about 40 kilometers east of Iran’s central city of Isfahan, dates back to the early 6th century AH, the beginning of the Seljuk period.

The mosque is a prominent example of Iranian Razi style architecture, known for its brick dome, tall minaret, geometric stucco moldings, and precise structural proportions. Unlike the four-porch mosques that later became popular in the mid-Seljuk period, this building has a central layout with porches and limited side spaces, and is considered to be an early development of mosque architecture in the Seljuk period.
