Quran Competition for Urdu-Speaking Seminarians Held in Qom

The preliminary stage of the 15th edition of Quran memorization competition for Urdu-speaking seminary students residing in the holy city of Qom was held on May 23.


Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Mas’ud Akhtar Razavi, head of Alawi Dar-ol-Quran Institute, told IQNA that the Dar-ol-Quran holds a Quran memorization competition in the month of Rajab every year on the occasion of Mab’ath (Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) appointment to prophetic mission and beginning of Quran revelation).

He added that the preliminary stage of this year’s competition was held in two groups of male and female seminary students.

Razavi said that more than 60 female seminarians participated at the competition held in the morning of the 23rd of Rajab and more than 40 male students competed in the evening the same day.

Memorization of 2, 5, 10, 15 and 20 Juzes (parts) of the Holy Quran as well as the entire Quran were the categories of the competition.

The participants who succeed to get at least 70 marks will qualify to compete in the final stage.

Alawi Dar-ol-Quran directed by Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Mas’ud Akhtar Razavi has been actively involved in Quranic affairs for about 15 years.

Besides cultural and research programs, the Quranic institute has trained a large number of Quran memorizers and Qaris from among foreign seminary students including those from India and Pakistan.
