Titled al-Wahyayn, the contest was organized in Turkey by Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF), al-Arab daily reported.
It was held in two sections, one for the youth and the other for adults.
The categories included memorization of 3, 10 and 20 Juzes (parts) of the Quran and the entire Quran as well as memorization of Prophetic Hadiths.
Syria has been gripped by deadly violence since March 2011. According to some sources, over 160,000 people have been killed and millions displaced due to the violence fueled by foreign-backed militants.
