Women’s Quran Competition Underway in Libya

A Quran memorization competition for women has been underway in Gharyan region in northwestern Libya.


According to akhbarlibya website, Al-Mahajjat-ul-Bayzaa’ educational Association supervises the competitions which started on August 30 and will run for 5 days.

Al-Shuhada Hall of the region has been hosting the Quranic event held with 370 participants.

The first day of the competition was attended by Libyan clerics, preachers and citizens.

The participants compete in two groups of students and housewives.

The students compete in memorization of the entire Quran, half of the Quran (15 Juzes), a quarter of Quran, the last 5, 3 and 2 Juzes (parts) of the Quran and the 30th Juz.

The other group compete in memorization of a quarter of the Quran, the last 5, 3, and 2 Juzes and the last (30th) Juz of the Quran.

The jury panel of the competition comprises Sheikh Abdul Majid Al-Khamri, Sheikh ‘Umar Al-Hashay and Sheikh Muhammad Husna.
