Nati'l Workshop on Quranic School Integration in Mali’s Educational System

The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) held a national workshop on the assessment of the performance of the committee for integrating Quranic schools in Mali’s educational system, in Bamako, from 2 through 4 September 2014.

 

The workshop was part of Malian relevant parties’ efforts to find solutions to the problems faced by Quranic schools at organizational, legal, academic and educational levels.
The objective was to explore the current situation of Quranic schools in Mali, and engage stakeholders in implementing recommendations for Quranic schools’ integration in the Malian educational system, through a national strategy to dedicate the potentials and resources needed to achieve the expected objectives.
High on the workshop’s agenda were the legal status and institutional framework for the development of Quranic schools in Mali, and adequate assessment and follow-up measures.
The workshop gathered representatives of ministerial departments, Mali’s Islamic Supreme Council, officials of central and regional education departments in Mali, and a host of Imams, religious counselors, Quranic school teachers, representatives of territorial collectivities, stakeholders and NGOs.
