- "Although Shia community is a small minority in the west African country of Senegal, Shia Islam is growing in popularity among the Senegalese due to proper introduction of Twelwer Shia doctrine," said Sharif Mohammed-Ali Sadra, head of Dakar-based Islamic Institute of Mazdahar.
"Islam has a long history in Africa which dates back to early years of its advent, so it is laced with Senegal's culture and is thus inseparable," he said.
Sadra who was speaking to Rasa News after paying a visit to Ayatollah Marashi Library in Qom added that he was impressed by the tremendous effort late Ayatollah Marashi made to collect such a rare and invaluable collection of Islamic manuscripts and this had doubled his energy to spread the core values of Islam and Prophet's Household in his country.
