Dar al-Ifta is the official Islamic institution responsible for issuing religious edicts (fatwas).
The Dar al-Ifta announced that the conference, titled “Training the Grand Mufti in the Era of Artificial Intelligence,” will be held on August 12–13, 2025, in collaboration with the secretariat of the Dar al-Ifta and fatwa centers worldwide.
Grand Muftis, ministers, and senior officials from over 100 countries will attend the conference, making it a major international and Islamic event, El-Balad News reported.
The 10th international conference of Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta coincides with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the secretariat of Dar al-Ifta and fatwa centers, which includes 111 member institutions from various countries.
The secretariat plays a vital role in enhancing cooperation and coordination among global fatwa institutions.
Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, Egypt’s Grand Mufti, said that given the rapid technological advancements that have created unprecedented challenges for religious institutions—especially fatwa centers—this year’s conference is being held at a crucial time.
He added that the conference aims to establish clear principles and foundations for training a mufti who is knowledgeable and skilled in using modern tools, digital transformations, and responsibly employing artificial intelligence in logical ways to serve the fatwa process.
