Congress to Commemorate Grand Ayatollah Mar’ashi Najafi

-- A congress will be held in Tehran and Qom early next year to commemorate the late Shia source of emulation grand Ayatollah Mar’ashi Najafi.
It will be organized in February 2011 by the Wila Montazar Institute in cooperation with the Culture and Islamic Guidance Department of Qom Province and the Ayatollah Mar’ashi Najafi Library.
An exhibition will also be mounted on the sidelines of the congress showcasing the manuscripts and rare books of the Ayatollah Mar’ashi Najafi Library.
According to Mohammad Esfandiari, an official with the library, a preliminary conference was held in February in which plans for holding the congress were discussed and different organizations pledged to contribute to organizing the event.
Born in 1897 in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq, Ayatollah Mar’ashi Najafi was a great source of emulation and one of his main services to the Shia community especially scholars and thinkers was establishing the great library known today as Ayatollah Mar’ashi Najafi Library.
