Majlis Speaker Congratulates Christians on Jesus’ Birthday
-- Majlis speaker Ali Larijani issued a message today in which he congratulated Christians worldwide, especially Iran’s Assyrian Christians, on the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ (AS).
He said that the message of Jesus Christ (AS), like other prophets of God, was a message of friendship, fraternity, peace and justice.
He stressed that Muslim nations expect Christians of the world to urge Christian governments to pay more attention to the spirit of the teachings of Jesus (AS), which is peace, friendship and combating injustice.
Larijani went on to say that the peaceful coexistence of Christians with other religious minorities and with Muslims in the Islamic Republic of Iran is a source of pride. He also noted that religious minorities in Iran are represented in the Majlis (Islamic consultative assembly) and their representatives are freely active in law-making and overseeing the country’s affairs.
