This is according to the cultural deputy of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization Hojat-ol-Islam Ahmad Sharafkhani who told a press conference on Wednesday that the competition’s national level would be hosted by the southern province of Hormozgan on February 15-19.
He added that 370 participants will compete at the national stage in different categories including memorization, recitation, Tarteel, and Quranic concepts.
He said one of the Awqaf Organization’s policies is to elevate the level of the Quran contests, adding that the total number of participants in all the stages of the Awaqf Quran competition reaches 450,000 up from 52,000 in 2010.
“We plan to have 1 million participants in the near future,” Hojat-ol-Islam Sharafkhani pointed out.
He referred to identifying Quranic talents and preparing them for presence in international events as one of the objectives of the competition.
The cultural deputy of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization went on to say that on the sidelines of the competition’s national stage in Hormozgan, Quranic programs will be held in different cities of the province with the participation of renowned Egyptian reciter Mahmoud Shahat Anwar and prominent Iranian reciters.
