Infaq (charity to please God) is the Quranic guideline for gaining more wealth, a seminary and university scholar said.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Taqi Fa'ali, made the remark at the tenth session of the faith-based lifestyle forum, organized by the Iranian Academics Quranic Activities Organization, saying that for every problem there is a spiritual solution, which is superior to material ones.
“The ‘more work for more income’ approach is a material solution for getting rich. But the Quran gives us another solution and says the formula for getting richer is almsgiving and Infaq.”
He pointed to the idea “We need to try to find solutions rather than exit ways” and said that there is a spiritual solution to every problem.
There are two kinds of solutions, first material and this-worldly and second, Divine solutions, Hojat-ol-Islam Fa’ali stated. “People usually resort to material solutions while what our great religious sages have said shows that spiritual solutions exist for every problem.
“We are all in search of profits and we usually think we need to work more to make more profits. There are families in which everyone is working for making more money. This solution for getting wealthy is a material one and those who think it is good for them to act like this are actually making money for their posterity and do not enjoy their lives. People used to work to live in the past but now it seems they are living to work.”
He underlined that the Quran ensures that wealth comes from giving to others.
“The Quran speaks of an increase in wealth 70 to 700 times that of what we give as alms, and sometimes speaks of infinite profits. So why do we fail to be generous? The reason is that we do not believe it. God challenges us to try this formula and undoubtedly God will emerge victorious from it.”
He also referred to those who say they do not give because they have nothing to give, stressing that their case is the opposite, namely, they do not have because they fail to give to others.
Hojat-ol-Islam Fa’ali went on to say that spiritual solutions have a greater value than material solutions as the world of Ghayb (invisible world) has dominance over the material world.
