Syrian Quran Expert Lauds Good Recitation of Non-Arab Contestants

TEHRAN (IQNA) - Syrian Quran master Refaat Alidib praised the performance of non-Arab contestants in the recitation category of the 5th International Quran Competition for Muslim Students.

Alidib, who is a member of the competition’s jury panel described their successful observation of the rules of Qira’a (recitation), Tajweed, Waqf and Ibtida (pause and resumption) as amazing.

He said the mastery of non-Arab participants over the rules of recitation has been achieved through hard work and efforts.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Alidib referred to the motto of this year’s contest, namely “Quran, Harbinger of Kindness, Unity and Dignity”, and said the activities of the great Quranic event are certainly in line with this motto.
He described the international Quran competition as a move towards calling for Muslim unity.
“This contest is being held in the Unity Week,” the Syrian Quran expert noted, adding that the Holy Quran is the symbol of unity among all Muslims.
Refaat Alidib further thanked the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei for his support for Quranic activities and wished success for the organizers and participants in the competition.
The 5th International Holy Quran Competition for Muslim Students is underway in Tehran until January 4.
Refaat Alidib is the director of al-Assad Quran Memorization Center in Damascus, Syria.
Born in 1960 in Damascus, he is an active Quranic figure in Syria and has taken part in several Quran competitions as member of the jury panel.
