Iraqi Quran Activists Urges Using Arts for Promotion of Quranic Concepts

TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Iraqi Quran activist highlighted the need for using arts to foster the concepts of the Holy Quran in societies.

Speaking to IQNA, Sayyed Ahmed Najaf said there should be exhibitions and competitions on Quranic arts such as calligraphy as they help to spread Quranic teachings.

He also said that people with different capabilities, intellectual tendencies, tastes and ideas, should be able to benefit from the teachings of the Quran.

Asked about the role of Quranic institutes in developing the Quranic culture, he said these institutes are in direct contact with people from different walks of life and this direct relation can be an influential factor in the spread of the Quranic culture.

He stressed that Quranc institutes also follow systematic and cohesive methods in fostering the Quranic culture.

Najaf, who is the managing director of Qaf International News Agency, further praised the successful role of Quranic institutes in spreading the Quranic values revolving around Islamic unity. 

Elsewhere in his remarks, he highlighted the efforts made by Quranic institutes in the field of Quran interpretation and translation in Iran and elsewhere in the Muslim world.

He said that as part of these efforts, the Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) in Karbala and the Iraqi Shia Awqaf Department have been active in organizing competitions and festivals featuring Quran interpretation and contemplation on the teachings of the Holy Quran.
