The courses began concurrent with the Quranic Week programs arranged by the cultural center in the holy month of Ramadan.
They will continue until the end of the holy month (July 18), the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) reported.
The courses are being held under the supervision of Hojat-ol-Islam Naderi, a scholar with ICRO’s Islamic development center.
At the end of the month-long courses, held separately for male and female students, there will be an examination and those obtaining the required score will be granted certificates for teaching the Quran.
Uganda is a Christian-majority country in central Africa. Some 13 percent of the country’s 38 million population is Muslim.
During the holy month of Ramadan, the ninth month in the Islamic Hijri calendar which began on June 18 this year, various Quranic programs are held across the Muslim world to help the faithful benefit more from the spiritual blessings of this month.
