TEHRAN (IQNA) – Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo hosted several in-person Quranic classes on Tuesday following an almost 1.5-year ban on such sessions due to concerns over the pandemic.

Classes for Quran memorization in three different levels and also special classes for children were held on Tuesday with the participation of learners at Al-Azhar Mosque, Elbalad reported.

Dr. Abdel Moneim Fouad, a supervisor on the scientific activities of Al-Azhar, said that sessions on memorization and Quranic teachings as well as discussions among memorizers and learners have been planned in the mosque.

The sessions aim to lift current barriers for learning Quran and will direct more attention to newly-come learners.

Encouraging the people to attend Quran sessions, Moneim pointed to a hadith by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) which reads the best of you are those who learn Quran and teach it.

Al-Azhar has resumed in-person courses in all of its branches across Egypt as pandemic-related restrictions have been lifted.
