Quran Memorizers Honored in Bangladesh

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A ceremony was held in Cox’s Bazar in southeast Bangladesh to honor 35 memorizers of the Holy Quran.

A number of Quran experts and scholars of Islamic sciences attended the event, held on the weekend, Al-Omah.com website reported.

The 35 Quran memorizers honored at the ceremony have recently completed the memorization courses at the Nibras Quran Institute.

It began with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and then speeches were delivered by the students of the institute in Arabic, Bengali and English.

The participants praised the Quran memorizers for their great achievement and expressed their admiration for their qualifications and competence.

The event was chaired by founder and director of the Nibras Institute Zia Al-Haq.

Furqanullah Khalil, a prominent literary figure and vice-president of Dar Al-Maarif Islamic University in Chittagong was the main guest at the ceremony.

Bangladesh is a Muslim majority country in South Asia. Some 160 million Muslims live in Bangladesh, which is the fourth largest Muslim population in the world (after Indonesia, Pakistan and India).
