TEHRAN (IQNA) – Doha Quran TV says it needs financial support for continuing its Quranic activities.

The TV channel announced that in absence of financial support until the end of this January, it cannot continue broadcasting its programs, Al-sharq.com reported.

Doha Quran TV is the first Qatari Quran TV channel and is accessible via the Nilesat satellite, frequency 10727H.

The channel is said to be the only satellite-based one broadcasting the Quran across the Arab world. According to estimates, some three million people across the region watch its programs.

People running the channel say financial support is needed and those who are eager to help can pay the costs for the satellite as an act of endowment.

Youssef Al-Shaibani, director of the channel, had told Al-Sharq in 2020 that the non-profit channel has an annual cost of 1.5 million Qatari rials which is provided by a donor.

He said Quran recitations of the channel are exclusive and recorded inside a studio as 90% of qaris are new and less-known. The channel is active around the clock.
