Praying Gives Meaning to Life
Saeed Khalilevic, a professor at the Islamic Sects Higher Education Center, talked to IQNA about the relation between spirituality and contemporary human, excepts of which are as follows:
The major problem contemporary humanity faces is lack of peace and calm and there is no doubt that mankind is more than anything searching for peace in life. But where can he find it?
After going through problems and issues caused by materialistic schools, contemporary human realized that those schools cannot give him true peace and whatever calms they give him is temporary.
Humanity today is on the path to return to spirituality. So there is no need to invite people to spirituality because it is already happening. But the question is which spiritual tradition can bring about calm and peace?
Certainly, spiritual traditions of the Far East or newly-emerged spiritual schools cannot do it. But there is a genuine view that involves God’s satisfaction and is manifested in the form of praying to the Creator of the universe. This gives a new form to life and can bring peace and calm, according to Islam.
What propagators of true Islam should do now that contemporary human has recognized voids in his life is help him to learn about true Islam, which offers teachings and guidance for all levels of human life.
We should introduce Islam’s pure teachings and tradition, which are manifested in the Holy Quran and Sahifeh Sajjadiyeh. With them, humanity will certainly regain the lost peace and calm.
If the Kumayl Supplication is provided to contemporary humanity with a good translation and proper explanations, he would certainly make the best use of these prayers and supplications and move toward such peace that he can find in no non-religious school.
